September 1st, 2010
Jessica Marie Absher, born December 31st 1983, and Joseph Wilson Burgess, born August 9th 1984, met as most high school classmates do, a few awkward meetings of the eyes and shy waves in the hallways. But the star-crossed couple quickly moved from mere classmates to major crushes, and from major crushes to the oh-so serious title of “boyfriend” and “girlfriend”. What ensued was a torrid high school romance, complete with heavy make-out sessions and many dramatic fights. Ultimately the young couple called it quits and went their separate ways after graduation and through college, though the two remained close friends. It wasn’t until the summer of 2008 that Jessica and Joe reconnected for dinner and some catching up that they rediscovered the old romantic flames. Together again and better than ever the couple now lives in Dana Point California and have spent most of their time (and money) traveling domestically and abroad. Joe proposed to Jessica August 27th 2010, in a gazebo at Ken Sampson Point overlooking the Dana Point harbor. They are currently planning their dream wedding and taking time to teach Jessica how to stop listening to terrible music and stop being a baby about spicy food.Popping the question wasn’t simply a scenic overview with onlookers and lost brides. No, it was an all day affair that started with a sunrise enjoyed from a thousand feet in the air by the way of a hot air ballon. An afternoon of relaxing and lunch lead up to a lesiurly stroll to the gazeebo at Ken Sampson Point where the view wasn’t the only thing that took her breathe away.
You think this would be enough but Joe knew that this special, life-changing moment wouldn’t be complete with out one more thing… They both jumped in the car and headed to the Jolly Roger to surprise Jessica one last time as all her friends and family from all over the country were there to greet and congratulate the engaged couple.
Now that’s a day to remember!
